Chelsea Manning (Twitter).

A day after leaving Fort Leavenworth military prison in Kansas, Army private Chelsea Manning on Thursday posted a new portrait of herself on social media, publicly depicting herself has a women for the first time. “Okay, so here I am everyone!!” she wrote alongside the photo.

The posts on Twitter and Instagram follow a few glimpses Manning shared on social media of herself adapting back to life outside of prison. One photo showed her enjoying her first slice of pizza since being freed, and in another she’s seen toasting a glass of champagne.

Manning served seven years in an all-male prison for revealing government secrets to WikiLeaks, and her 35-year sentence was commuted by former President Barack Obama as one of his final acts in office. “For the first time, I can see a future for myself as Chelsea. I can imagine surviving and living as the person who I am and can finally be in the outside world,” she said in a written statement on Wednesday.
