Taylor Swift took the witness stand on Thursday at the sexual harassment civil trial in Denver and told jurors that she has no doubt former radio DJ David Mueller groped her during a 2013 photo op before a concert. “He stayed attached to my bare ass-cheek as I lurched away from him,” Swift testified, adding, “It was a definite grab, a very long grab.” Swift reportedly spent about an hour on the witness stand and refuted Mueller’s claim that he did not grope the pop star and that any contact he may have made with her was incidental. Swift said there was nothing incidental about the contact and that Mueller reached under her skirt to grab her buttocks.
The singer said the ordeal has had a lasting effect on her. “It was a very shocking thing that I have never dealt with before,” Swift said. “After this happened, it was like a light switched off my personality.” Under cross examination from Mueller’s attorney, Swift shot back at the assertion if what she described indeed took place, she should’ve been critical of her bodyguard for not intervening. “No, I am critical of your client for sticking his hand under my skirt and grabbing my bare ass,” Swift said. She continued, saying, “It happened to me. He had a handful of my ass. It happened to me. I know it was him,” Swift said. She then referred to a photo that seems to show Mueller caught in the act. “I didn’t need a picture. I could have picked him out of a line of a thousand.” The testimony came a day after Swift’s mother testified and said the incident made her want to “vomit and cry at the same time.”
